My sisters keeper summary

The book ‘My Sister’s Keeper’ by Jodi Picoult is a powerful novel, as the readers experience all the different emotions at the same time as the characters do. The author made the text express so much meaning through writing the book in several different characters’ viewpoint, creating the audience to feel sad and emotional for all the characters within the book. My Sister's Keeper is about a girl who sues her parents for the rights of her own body, to allow her to make her own medical decisions. Anna was conceived after her older sister was diagnosed with leukemia. She is a perfect match for her sister, donating blood, marrow etc. to keep her sister alive. However the only reason why she is suing her parents is due to the fact that they are the wishes of her sick sister Kate, as she feels like her time has come to an end.  In the end of the book there is a very sad dramatic twist, where Anna is deeply injured in a car crash and severely injured, as her left side of her brain is dead. Due to the fact that her lawyer being the medical power of attorney for Anna, he said that t Anna would want her kidney donated to her sister. This gives her sister Kate a second chance at life.  ‘My sister keeper’ uses very descriptive language, using many verbs and describing words to make meaning to the text.
